Hope Singers

John and Laura and family have returned!! O yeah!! Life can finally start resembling normal once again. This is good. This is very good.
Tomorrow Franklin and Manu arrive at the airport for our Hope Singers tour. I'll go in to meet them, and we'll bring the train back to Minsk. And on Tuesday the rest of the Hope Singers arrive to begin our 3 week adventure of bringing the gospel via singing to many people and churches throughout Poland. It promises to be a good time. Not without frustrations I'm sure, but good nonetheless.
Tomorrow I also have a little work to do on a couple of bikes. We were trying to put air in our bike tires with an unfamiliar pump. I ended up ripping the valve stem out of Conrads rear tire and overinflating mine until the rim blew apart. Incapacitated two bikes within 5 minutes. No one can say I'm not efficient!
This will have to do until after the Hope Singers tour is finished. See you then!  Les

Hope Singers Practice

The other day we got together to practice our Hope Singers music for the first time with all of us. Even though it will only be us VSers singing in the programs from the team here, Lavern and Lolita do us a really big favor and practice with us. We'd be in big trouble if they wouldn't help.
It feels good to have a few hours of practice behind us. We have a lot of work to do, but it will be possible to learn these songs. Three weeks yet until the group from the States comes over! Then we'll have three weeks of music - practicing, giving programs all over Poland, and recording. Looking forward to it!
That will do for now,  Les

They Are Coming - At 600 mph

That's right, Robin and Maria are over the Atlantic right now speeding our way. We are going in to Warsaw to pick them up later this morning. Brunch together at Laverns later. I hope we can make them feel welcome. Then immediately on Monday morning they start their intensive Polish course going to Warsaw every day. Sorry Robin and Maria, you just won't have time for jet lag. You're going to have to dive right into learning Polish. Have fun!

Decision Time

Good evening everyone, a quick note to you all. A while ago John told me the mission is asking me to stay for a third year here in Poland. All right, I would have until the end of October or so to decide. So I've been rolling it around in my mind for awhile without really trying to come to a decision yet. Today I'm told that he would like to know by the end of August whether I plan to stay for a third year. So I have the rest of the month to make this decision, a little longer perhaps if I need the time. So please pray that I will make a good decision, and if you have anything to say to me about it, I'd love to hear that too.
Goodnight all,
Les

Dreaming of a Manual

You know you miss driving when you start dreaming about buying a car. Especially if it's an '82 Camry that looks like a Polonez. (Polonez is an ugly looking Polish brand.) But that's what I did last night, and I was excited about having a car once again too! Well, I'll wait a little while to have my own car again, and I hope it's a few years newer than an '82 when I do get it.
Happy driving to all you car owners,
Les
